“Government Launches ?10,000 Crore Scheme to Support Sustainable Farming Practices”
The Government of India has launched a new ?10,000 crore initiative aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices among Indian farmers. The scheme, titled ‘Harit Kranti Mission’, was officially announced by the Ministry of Agriculture on June 23, 2025, during a national summit on climate-resilient agriculture held in New Delhi. The mission focuses on encouraging the use of organic fertilizers, water-efficient irrigation techniques, and climate-smart crop varieties. As per the ministry, more than 2 crore farmers are expected to benefit from this scheme over the next five years. Each registered farmer will receive subsidies on bio-fertilizers, drip irrigation kits, and technical training on modern sustainable farming methods. Under this program, special attention is being given to drought-prone areas of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. In these states, the government will also collaborate with NGOs and agricultural startups to conduct on-field training and real-time crop monitoring using IoT and satellite data.
