Lucknow Selected as Model Smart City

The Ministry of Urban Development has selected Lucknow as a pilot for India’s first AI-enabled Smart City Project, to be completed by mid-2026. The ?7,500 crore project will include intelligent traffic management, facial-recognition-based public safety, automated garbage collection, and AI-based water usage monitoring. Lucknow Smart City CEO stated, “We aim to blend tradition with tech. Residents will soon experience seamless urban living with zero paperwork and real-time public grievance redressal.” The transformation will begin in Gomti Nagar, Hazratganj, and Alambagh in Phase I. Digital kiosks, smart street lighting, and Wi-Fi zones will also be introduced. Residents can track progress via the SmartLucknow app, launching in September 2025.
