The Uttar Pradesh Government has approved a massive ?10,000 crore expansion of the Kanpur Metro, adding three new corridors to improve citywide connectivity. The new lines will cover Chakeri Airport, IIT Kanpur, and Panki Industrial Area, reducing travel time and traffic congestion significantly. Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) officials confirmed that work will begin in November 2025, with completion expected by 2028. Over 25 new stations and underground passages are part of the plan, with full AC coaches and solar-powered stations. Citizens welcomed the move, stating it would boost daily commuting, job access, and local business growth.
